The Association for Independent Living has signed a collaboration agreement with the Catalonia Polytechnic University
The Accessibility Chair of the Catalonia Polytechnic University (UPC) will carry out a study to determine the current and emergent domotic technologies related to the domestic environment that will turn the future Center of Independent Living into an intelligent house. This center, equipped with the last technology and products of support to improve the autonomy of disabled and elderly people, will evaluate which are the most suitable technical aids for each dependent person.

With the signature of the collaboration agreement between the AVI and the UPC for the promotion of projects to improve the accessibility, the social integration and the autonomous life of every person. All this will be done through the utilization and the application of new technologies, no matter which are the physical, auditory, visual, psychic or mental conditions of the person who use them.
The collaboration also foresees that the future Center of Independent Living will have a laboratory where carrying out applied research in the field of assistance and support to the elderly people, that will be coordinated by the Accessibility Chair.

The Accessibility Chair, under the lemma "Architecture, technology and design for everybody", centers its activity on promoting the equality of opportunities of dependent or disabled people in the areas of architecture and technology. The Chair coordinates the UPC groups of research and spreads the knowledge and the experience developped, so that the people with disabilities could access in an autonomous way to any environment, architectural, technological or of knowledge.
