The functional adaptation of the housing of elderly and people with disabilities: technical and financial responses

The ILOQUID project is an initiative promoted and financed by the Barcelona Provincial Council and supported by the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration with European Social Fund. The Municipal Institute for Economic Promotion of Mataró, with the intervention of the socio-economic planning, participating in this project which aims to increase employment in the field of care for people with special needs and improve at the same time, the quality of services provided.

It is in this context that has been detected as a potential sector for employment generation arranging housing for elderly and disabled people who encounter difficulties in day to day at home. Given the progressive aging of the population and other social health, presents new opportunities for businesses and professionals who want to specialize in this work area.

In this sense, the IMPEM has conducted the course ” Housing rehabilitation and adaptation technician for dependent people”, and it ends with the formation process of the beneficiaries of the course, offering professional and companies, the opportunity to get into topics that may be of interest, such as updating regulatory information, routes of public and private financing that can provide potential customers contracting works and economically viable technical solutions.

9:00 h. – Reception and accreditation of participants

9:30  h.  –  Presentation by Miquel Rey y Castilla, president of the Municipal Institute for Economic Promotion of Mataró, a representative of the Barcelona Provincial Council and a representative of the Association of Surveyors, Technical Architects and Building Engineers of Barcelona

9:45 h.  –  Presentation by Xavier Garcia-Milà Lloveras, accessibility expert architect and partner in the firm SLP Architecture and Accessibility: The arrangement of the houses of the elderly and people with disabilities: accessibility to functional adaptation.

The elderly and disabled find difficulty using their home. Hence the need for customization criteria and functional adaptation beyond that result from applying the rules of accessibility. This opens opportunities for businesses and professionals who want to specialize in this working area.

10:55 h. – Regulatory Information Update: Technical Code and Decree of Occupancy, by Xavier Diez, Technical Association of Surveyors, Technical Architects and Building Engineers of Barcelona.

11:15 h. – The housing arrangement program of the elderly in the area of Barcelona, by Gustavo Barriga, Subsection Technical Resource Management Unit Social Action Service of the Barcelona Provincial Council.

11:35  h.  –  CVI’s experience with other funding streams for housing adaptation: the microcredits, by Berta Crau, social worker of Independent Living Center.

11:55 h. – Home automation adapted to housing rehabilitation for elderly and people with disabilities, by Eduard Vidal, Technical Guild Maresme Installers.

12:15 h. – Time for questions

12:30 h. – Closing ceremony. Delivery of diplomas to the beneficiary students from the ILOQUID Course of “Technical in adaptation and rehabilitation of housing for people with dependence.”
